Apple products come with a cool feature called Airdrop, which allows you to securely share and transfer photos, videos, files, and other media instantly between iPhones, or iPhone to an iPad/Mac, in just seconds without the need for a Wi-Fi or internet connection. You may need this feature if you have a brand-new iPhone and want to transfer files from your old iPhone, or if you need to transfer files to your friends.
Check the settings on both devices before transferring the media
Before starting the transfer process, you need to check the following settings:
Ensure that the Personal Hotspot is turned off on both devices.
Confirm that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned on on both devices.
On the receiver’s iPhone, make sure the Airdrop setting is set to Everyone or Contacts Only if the receiver is in your contacts.
Now send the files using Airdrop
To send photos or videos, open the Photos app and select the items you wish to share. Then tap the share icon, as shown in the screenshots below.
On the sharing screen, tap Airdrop to view all nearby available devices. If you see the receiver device in the top row, click on it to begin the transfer process. If you can’t see the device in the top row, then click on Airdrop to view all nearby devices.
Inside the Airdrop screen, all available devices will be displayed. If you see the receiver device, tap on it to send the files.
The receiver device will be prompted to either “Accept” or “Reject” the request from the sender’s iPhone. Click “Accept” to initiate the transfer process.
You can also send documents directly from the iPhone Files app. To do so, repeat the same process by selecting the documents (such as PDFs, Word documents, videos, or photos) and tapping the share icon. Next, select the receiver device, and the file transfer process will be initiated.
