High-Quality Output

Powered by LibreOffice via CloudConvert — the same engine behind leading PDF tools. Text, tables, columns, and images are faithfully reproduced in the output .docx.

Fully Editable DOCX

The result is a proper Word document with real, selectable, and editable text — not an image-based PDF. Open it in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice Writer.

Secure Processing

Your PDF is transmitted over HTTPS to CloudConvert's encrypted servers. Files are automatically deleted after conversion and are never shared or stored permanently.

All PDF Types

Works with text-based PDFs generated from Word, InDesign, Excel, or any application. Scanned PDFs (image-only) require OCR and are not supported by this tool.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

Yes — unlike our other tools which run entirely in your browser, PDF to Word conversion requires server-side processing. Your PDF is securely uploaded over HTTPS to CloudConvert's servers (cloudconvert.com), where LibreOffice performs the conversion. The file is automatically deleted from their servers immediately after the converted .docx is downloaded. Skilltosky does not store your file at any point. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Will the converted Word file look exactly like my PDF?

For most PDFs, the output is very close to the original — text, headings, tables, columns, and embedded images are all preserved. Highly complex layouts with precise pixel-level positioning or unusual fonts may have minor differences, as this is the inherent nature of PDF-to-Word conversion. Overall quality is high — LibreOffice is a professional-grade engine used by leading PDF conversion services worldwide.

How long is my file kept on CloudConvert's servers?

CloudConvert automatically deletes all uploaded files and conversion results shortly after the job completes — typically within minutes. They do not store files permanently or use them for any purpose other than performing the conversion. You can review CloudConvert's privacy policy at cloudconvert.com/privacy.

Is there a file size or page limit?

The maximum file size is 50 MB. There is no specific page limit, but very large PDFs will take longer to process. If you encounter an error with a very large file, try splitting it into smaller parts first using our Split PDF tool.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?

Scanned PDFs are images and do not contain a real text layer, so text cannot be extracted without OCR (Optical Character Recognition). This tool does not perform OCR. For best results, use PDFs that were created digitally — exported from Word, InDesign, Excel, or similar software.

What Word format does the download use?

The downloaded file is a standard .docx file (Office Open XML format), compatible with Microsoft Word 2007 and later, Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, and all modern word processors.
