1. Overview

Skilltosky PDF Tools ("we", "our", or "the Service") is a free online PDF toolkit operated by Skilltosky (skilltosky.com). We are committed to being transparent about how data flows through our tools.

This policy explains:

  • Which tools process your files entirely in your browser (no upload)
  • Which tools require server-side processing via a third-party API
  • What analytics and advertising data we collect
  • Your rights regarding your data

2. Two Categories of Tools

Our tools fall into two distinct categories with very different privacy characteristics:

100% Client-Side Tools — Your file never leaves your device

The following tools run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your PDF or image files are loaded into browser memory only. Nothing is uploaded to Skilltosky servers or any third party.

All processing is performed by the PDF.js, jsPDF, and related JavaScript libraries running locally in your browser tab. No file data is ever transmitted.

Server-Side Tool — File is uploaded for processing

PDF to Word — This tool uses the CloudConvert API to perform server-side conversion via LibreOffice. When you use this tool:

  • Your PDF is uploaded over HTTPS directly to CloudConvert's servers (cloudconvert.com).
  • CloudConvert's LibreOffice engine converts it to a .docx file.
  • The converted file is returned to you and then automatically deleted from CloudConvert's servers.
  • Skilltosky does not store, log, or access the contents of your PDF at any point.

CloudConvert's own privacy policy governs how they handle data on their servers. You can read it at cloudconvert.com/privacy.

3. Analytics — Google Analytics

On our production domain (skilltosky.com), we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. This collects:

  • Pages visited and time spent
  • General geographic location (country/city level)
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Referring website (how you found us)

Google Analytics does not collect any information about the files you process. Analytics is loaded only on skilltosky.com — it is not active in local/development environments.

You can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

4. Advertising — Google AdSense

On our production domain (skilltosky.com), we display advertisements via Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to show you personalised ads based on your browsing history.

AdSense does not have access to any files you upload or process through our tools.

You can manage your Google ad personalisation settings at adssettings.google.com.

5. Cookies and Session Data

We use a minimal session cookie for security purposes (CSRF protection) — this prevents cross-site request forgery attacks. This cookie:

  • Contains only a random security token, no personal data
  • Is deleted when you close your browser tab/session
  • Is never shared with third parties

We also use localStorage in your browser to remember your dark/light theme preference. No personal data is stored.

Google Analytics and Google AdSense may set their own cookies as described in their respective privacy policies.

6. Data We Do Not Collect

We want to be explicit about what we do not collect:

  • We do not require account registration or collect your name, email, or any personal information to use the tools
  • We do not store or log the contents of any files you process through client-side tools
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes
  • We do not build user profiles or track you across websites (beyond standard Google Analytics/AdSense behaviour)

7. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
