A PDF that will not open, shows a "damaged file" error, or looks broken in some viewers usually has a corrupted internal structure rather than corrupted content. This tool loads the file with a tolerant parser, rebuilds a clean structure, and — if the original is too damaged to preserve as text — recovers each page as a high-quality image instead. Everything runs locally in your browser, so your file is never uploaded. Repair is best-effort: it can fix broken cross-reference tables, bad trailers, and similar structural damage, but it cannot reconstruct data that is genuinely missing, such as a truncated, partially downloaded file.
Tries a lossless structural rebuild first (keeps text, fonts and images fully intact); only falls back to image recovery for severely damaged files.
Uses a highly fault-tolerant parser that can often open PDFs other tools reject outright.
After repair, see exactly which method was used and how many pages were recovered.
All processing happens locally in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded to any server.
It fixes structural problems — a broken cross-reference table, a missing or malformed trailer, incremental-update chains that confuse strict parsers, and similar issues that make a file fail to open even though its content is intact.
If the file is truncated (for example, an incomplete download) or its content streams are genuinely missing, no tool can reconstruct data that is not there. The tool will tell you plainly if repair is not possible rather than producing a broken result.
If a structural rebuild succeeds, no — text, fonts, images and layout are preserved exactly. Only if the file is too damaged for that does the tool fall back to recovering pages as images, which is noted clearly in the result.
No. Repair fixes structural corruption, not encryption. For a PDF that requires a password to open, you will need the password first.
